The Art of Life as We Wish It Were. It is the result of an urge to create that is born purely of talent and inspirationa colorful reflection of the viewer’s own voice and vision. Perhaps that’s why people respond as they do to the folk-art treasures of the Peasant Folk Collectionor perhaps it’s simply because the paintings, prints and cards in this charming shop capture such beautifully conceived, endearingly rendered, thoroughly delightful visual vignettes. The five artists have put together a gem of a store (located in the Barnyard, no less!), full of images and objects that speak of a better world and simpler, happier timesa time in which, as artist Donna Moses says, “even the fights were quaint.” It’s not reminiscence as much as hopeful revisionism; it’s life as we wish it had beenas we wish it were today. Moses likes to say, “When you don’t know what to do next, do the next right thing.” If you like to smile, the next right thing is a trip to Peasant Folk Collectionwhere Memory Lane is pave with your dreams. Featured artists include Donna Moses, Donna Perkins and Nancy Stirm.
